About my project
MIaS is a Math Information Retrieval (MIR) system developed in the MIR research group at MU. MIaS notably won a MIR competition in 2014, but applied research and innovation is required to improve the system's accuracy.
I will work closely with the MIaS developers who will use my results to implement an industry-grade search engine. I will research data structures and algorithms that enable fast and accurate computation of semantic text similarity in the presence of structured information. I will draw from the results of my research and the recent advances in IR and machine learning to innovate MIaS.
Where I see myself in my career in 10 years
After receiving my Ph.D., I plan to continue as a post-doctoral researcher at a foreign university, continue to a tenure-track position, and eventually a tenured position.
What I like most about Brno
It is a metropolis with a soul.
