Zebrafish Model of Robinow Syndrome: Linking Dermal Fibroblast wnt5a to Skeletal Malformations

Lector: Peter Fabian

Institution: Masaryk University, Faculty of Science

Field: Animal physiology, immunology and developmental biology

About the project

In this project, I focus on the dermal fibroblast population and its interactions with skeletal stem cells. Although dermal fibroblasts are not specifically skeletogenic, they play a crucial role in supporting skeletal formation. Specifically, I investigate alterations in Wnt5a signaling using a Danio rerio model and explore how disruptions in this pathway can contribute to diseases such as Robinow syndrome.

Why science?

I love discovering new worlds within known structures.

What do I like most about Brno

I love that Brno is a vibrant student city. It’s incredibly easy to connect with like-minded people and build meaningful relationships. Being part of such an inspiring and dynamic ecosystem is truly energizing.
