Regulation of Stress Granules in Plant Abiotic Stress Response

Lector: Mgr. Karel Říha, Ph.D.

Institution: Masaryk University, Faculty of Science

Field: Life Sciences

About the project

With the threat of climate change looming large, agricultural yields decrease yearly. My project is to study the Stress Granules in plants under heat stress and use that knowledge to help contribute to the generation of stress-resilient crops, thus adding to the sustainable development goals of the UN.

Why science?

Since I was a little boy, the simple things attracted me and made me wonder why these things happen. I have been thus always trying to understand the natural phenomena which led me to pursue botany and ultimately guided me to this place.

What do I like most about Brno

Being a student who studies and applies the laws of genetics every day to my research problems, studying here in Brno, the city of Mendel, keeps me motivated every day to strive harder towards further improving our understanding of the plant life.
