Protein-based nanozymes for in situ activation of prodrugs

About the project
Project presents a sophisticated concept for targeted anticancer therapy based on activation of prodrugs directly in the tumor tissue via nanozymes. The nanozymes are based on peptide-modified ferritins, and catalysts serve as the activation core. The idea is to prevent nanozyme’s degradation in the endolysosomal pathway through targeting peptides, leading to accumulation on the extracellular side of cells and activation of the prodrug into its toxic form leading to elimination of cancer cells.
Why science?
I love science because it develops both my creative and analytical skills. As a scientist I must follow certain rules but at the same time, I can experiment not only in the laboratory but also in my mind, coming up with new ideas that I hope will someday help someone live more beautiful and fulfilling life.
What do I like most about Brno
Brno is love. Brno is an ideal place to live - in one moment, I'm surrounded by nature and within minutes, I can absorb the vibrant energy of the city. As a typical coffee enthusiast, I admire the café and gastro scene in Brno, which you won't find anywhere else in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, Brno offers excellent opportunities for studying as well as research at the international level.
