Advancing the correlative imaging of skin cancers through spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques
Lector: Assoc. Prof. Pavel Pořízka, Ph.D.
Institution: Brno University of Technology, CEITEC VUT
Field: Advanced materials and nanosciences
About the project
This project will focus on correlative imaging of human malignant and benign skin tumors using histology, immunohistochemistry, and two laser-based bioimaging methods (LIBS and LA-ICP-MS). One of the focuses will also be advanced data processing, such as machine learning, for possible tumor prediction. The aim of the project is to demonstrate new potential techniques that could help histologists in the future in cancer diagnosis.
Why science?
A few years ago, I probably wouldn't have imagined that my life would be heading in the direction of science. But two years ago, I had the opportunity to try working in a science group, and I started to enjoy it very much. I like being a researcher because I have to keep track of progress in my field, invent new research opportunities and learn new things. I like the idea that you can push the world a little further.
What do I like most about Brno
It is incredible how much Brno has to offer. Whether it is sports, culinary experiences, culture, or university, and scientific facilities, there is everything one can dream of in Brno. But what is my favorite thing? Brno is a modern, multicultural city with a great atmosphere. It was love at first sight.
