PLAUR alternative splicing isoforms and their role in the development of immunopathological reactions
Lector: prof. MUDr. Tomáš Freiberger, Ph.D.
Institution: Masaryk University, Faculty of Medicine
Field: Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology
About the project
Due to alternative splicing the uPAR protein may occur in several forms whose function or involvement in cellular processes, including inflammatory responses, has not been previously investigated. The aims are to define the properties of spliced forms and to determine their representation in immune cells from rheumatoid arthritis and bronchial asthma patients. The results of the project could contribute to the understanding of this issue and to the improvement of therapeutic approaches.
Why science?
The most I like about science is its diversity. From office work, to planning and conducting experiments, to writing scientific publications, people working in science are challenged every day. Science is changing, dynamic, fun, interesting and, in the right hands, a great tool to help.
What do I like most about Brno
In addition to the availability of great schools, Brno combines aspects of both big and small cities, so no matter what your interests, there is a place for everyone.
