About the project
Melanoma is an aggressive skin cancer with limited treatment options. This project aims to identify new targetable vulnerabilities, linking cell metabolism to signaling pathways essential for melanoma growth. First, I will decipher molecular mechanisms by which the energy sensor AMPK modulates ERK pathway activity in BRAF- and NRAS-mutant melanomas in response to metabolic stress. Then I will characterize a non-canonical reaction of mTOR signaling in melanoma cells to amino acid restriction.
Why science?
Science is an opportunity for self-development for me in many ways. It allows me to continuously learn, travel abroad, expand my horizons, and constantly push the boundaries of my comfort zone. The prospect of understanding new topics motivates me to continue my work and does not let me fall into a stereotype.
