Impact of material properties of components of atherosclerotic plaque on its risk of rupture
Lector: Prof. Ing. Jiří Burša, Ph.D.
Institution: Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
Field: Biomechanics of soft arterial tissues
About the project
Atherosclerosis is one of the leading causes of death. My project aims to acquire the mechanical properies of atherosclerotic carotid arteries. The knowledge of these material properties is fundamental for computational modeling which could help with the decision about operation and could detect potentional critical casesl, which were not detected by standartd medical guidelines.
Why science?
The topic of biomechanics was always fascinating for me and since it is a field of science, the science was an easy choice for me. It allows me to do what i really like and am interested about.
What do I like most about Brno
I was born in Brno and I lived here all my life, so my opinion is little bit sentimental. I like this city for various reasons; it is a city where I met all of my friends, it offers lot of options regarding education and culture and of coure lot of pubs where I can rest with my friends over a glass of beer.
