About the project

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disease affecting males and resulting in severe skeletal muscle fibrosis affecting also the heart and leading to premature death. We hypothesize that depletion of cardiovascular progenitors hampers heart homeostasis. The purpose of this project is to model the depletion of cardiovascular progenitors using human induced pluripotent stem cells from DMD patients, understand the molecular mechanisms behind it and correct these mechanisms.

Why science?

After concluding my PhD, I want to keep improving my skills and knowledges abroad as a postdoc. Then I would like to come back to Brno in order to keep my research here in the Czech Republic and keep researching in the field of genetic disease.

What do I like most about Brno

Brno is a special city, many time forgotten by the most although extremely rich and fascinating in history. It is a wonderful and very charming city full of lovely people. I simply love Brno.
