New polymer nanomedicines for the treatment of rheumatic arthritis
Lector: doc. Mgr. Lukáš Kubala, Ph.D.
Institution: Masaryk University, Faculty of Science
Field: Animal physiology, immunology and developmental biology
About the project
Rheumatoid arthritis is a common disease significantly limiting quality of life. Current therapies including glucocorticoids, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and therapeutic antibodies only suppress disease activity and are mostly related to serious side effects. The objectives of the project are development, characterization and preclinical testing of new nanopolymers conjugated with these drugs for targeted therapy which should improve their pharmacokinetics and reduce the side effects.
Why science?
Over the next 10 years, I would like to gain experience from research interships abroad and keep on building a career in the field of immunological research.
What do I like most about Brno
I like Brno for its appropriate size, which offers plenty of both job and social life opportunities, but at the same time retains its friendly atmosphere.
