About the project

Remember the ban of antibiotics as growth promoters due to increasing antibiotic resistance? Probably the same fate of withdrawal awaits the common prebiotics, short-chain fructooligosaccharides (scFOS). Proposed project targets the influence of scFOS on the frequency of conjugative transfer of resistance plasmids with genes encoding scFOS metabolism. Results will bring new-found information that could support discussion about restriction or even prohibition of the use of the scFOS supplements.

 

Why science?

I see my future in the research, especially in the field of antibiotic resistance that represents one of the highest threats that mankind has ever faced.
