STUDY OF ACCUMULATION OF POLYHYDROXYALKANOTATES AND OTHER METABOLITES BY CYANOBACTERIA

Field: Food Sciences
About the project
Plastic pollution is a serious problem. Biopolymers (polyhydroxyalkanoates – PHA) offer the solution, the biggest problem remains the price of PHA. If PHA wants to compete the petrochemical plastic, the price has to be reduced. Bacteria strains producing PHA can grow on waste materials such as frying oil or waste glycerol. Cyanobacteria is another possible PHA producer producing PHA without any input materials because it can grow autotrophically and could help the environment in the same time.
Why science?
I would like to work in some biotechnology company with research so I can improve my knowledge and skills.
What do I like most about Brno
I like the rich culture life in Brno, especially the theatres, which I love to visit. Another thing I like are the sport facilities and opportunities to do almost any sport you wish.
